183: Paying for a Vaccine
One crazy idea I heard yesterday is that we need to pay people to get vaccinated. What??
Why is this even being discussed? Well, NBC News did a poll and found that only 44% of Americans would for sure get the vaccine, were it to exist. 🤦🏼♂️
There was an idea floated that we should pay $1k to each person to get vaccinated, to ensure we all get it. If 60% of Americans took up that offer, it would cost $200B which is a lot, but smaller than the $460B our economy lost in Q2.
I say we release a vaccine to everyone, wait until most of the public gets it (like me), and then make a cash offer to get enough stragglers to take it so we can get to herd immunity.
Either way, I’ll be super pumped and at the front of the line when that vaccine arrives.

This is how it looks beyond the Zoom screen:
I feel really bad for this kid:
Growing up our family did lots of roadtrips and The Big Chill album was a must-listen and I’ve made sure to implement that on our own roadtrips. This Marvin Gaye song must have been played 1000 times in my home growing up, but I’ve never heard it like this before.

Bad news alert. COVID is very bad for your heart:
Good news alert. Pharma company Eli Lilly announced that they have an antibody treatment that drastically lower levels of the coronavirus in infected patients and lower the likelihood of requiring hospitalization. It is the first potential treatment for patients with Covid-19.
Still not going great for the colleges in America:
