The Vaccine Class
Israel is about to hit a milestone where half of its population has had at least one dose.
As a result, this week, the government is allowing the reopening of shopping malls, gyms, sport events, hotels and other venues for the first time in months — but only for people who are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19. Under a new “Green Badge” system people will have to carry a certificate of vaccination with a QR code to gain entrance to restaurants, malls, conferences, swimming pools, almost everything.
They are pretty ruthless about it. The health minister there said, “Getting vaccinated is a moral duty. It is part of our mutual responsibility. Whoever does not get vaccinated will be left behind.”
We thought telling people to wear masks was rough. With a third of all Americans saying that they won’t get a vaccine, it’ll be really interesting to see what happens in the states if we start requiring them for stores or sporting events.
San Francisco Exodus
There’s been a bunch of stories about San Francisco tech workers leaving for Texas and Florida — but if you look at the U.S. Postal Service change-of-address records, they're actually just moving to Bay Area suburbs.
The top six destinations for those fleeing were all Bay Area counties: Alameda, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and Sonoma. Austin and Denver were the only two non-CA destinations in the Top 20.
That said, there are a LOT of people moving around. The number leaving SF rose by from 45,263 in 2019 to 80,371 in 2020.
At My House
Hunter and I are still learning to play the guitar and it’s been really fun to do with him. Here’s a clip of his latest jam. I need to get a bit better before I’m posting any progress.
